Maverick was subsequently acquired by ITG Brands, a subsidiary of the global tobacco giant Imperial Brands. This transition ensured that the brand remained a staple in the competitive discount cigarette category.

Today, Maverick cigarettes are primarily manufactured and distributed within the United States. They are produced by ITG Brands at their manufacturing facilities in North Carolina. Despite the changes in corporate ownership, the brand continues to hold a significant presence in the retail market, managed under the umbrella of its British parent company, Imperial Brands PLC.
