Based in Maine, the brand is most famous for its 'Docksides' boat shoes and hand-sewn loafers, which became staples of New England prep culture. In 2017, the brand was acquired by BasicNet S.p.A., an Italian global footwear and apparel group. While the brand maintains its American heritage and classic designs, its operations and strategic direction are now managed from Turin, Italy. Manufacturing is conducted across various locations worldwide, including the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Vietnam, where specialized factories continue the tradition of hand-sewing the brand's signature leather goods.
