Twitch Live Streaming Platform

Twitch is the world's leading live streaming platform, primarily focused on video game live streaming, including broadcasts of eSports competitions, in addition to creative content, musical broadcasts, and more recently, "in real life" streams. Originally launched in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin.tv, it quickly eclipsed its parent company in popularity and became the primary focus of the business.

Technically, Twitch operates as a global digital service hosted across multiple data center locations worldwide, primarily utilizing the infrastructure of its parent company's cloud services. This distributed nature allows for low-latency streaming across various continents and regions.

In August 2014, Twitch was acquired by Amazon.com, Inc. for approximately $970 million. Since then, it has been integrated into the Amazon ecosystem, featuring benefits for Amazon Prime members such as Prime Gaming. Today, Twitch remains a subsidiary under Amazon, maintaining its headquarters in San Francisco, California, while operating as a dominant force in the global digital entertainment landscape.
