Opus One is a prestigious premium red wine produced in Oakville, California. Created as a joint venture between two of the most legendary figures in the wine world, the brand represents a fusion of Old World tradition and New World innovation. The estate focuses on producing a single Bordeaux-style blend that has become a benchmark for Napa Valley quality.

The brand was founded in 1978 through a partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. This collaboration marked the first significant joint venture between a French winery and an American vintner. Today, the winery remains a symbol of international cooperation in viticulture, maintaining its own dedicated vineyards and cellar staff to ensure consistent excellence across every vintage.

Ownership of Opus One remains a 50/50 partnership. Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A. continues to represent the French lineage, while Constellation Brands acquired the other half through their purchase of the Robert Mondavi Corporation in 2004. The winery operates as an independent entity with its own management team based entirely in the United States.
