Aalborg Akvavit

Aalborg Akvavit is a quintessentially Danish brand of spirits, originally founded in Aalborg, Denmark, in 1846 by Isidor Henius under De Danske Spritfabrikker. For over a century, it was the symbol of Danish schnapps culture. While its cultural roots and brand identity remain deeply Danish, the production was moved from Denmark to Norway in 2015 following corporate restructuring.

Today, the brand is owned by the Norwegian company Arcus (now part of Anora Group), which manages the production and global distribution. Despite the change in manufacturing location, it remains the market leader in the Danish aquavit market and continues to follow the traditional Danish recipes.
