Luxor is a historic Swedish brand with a legacy dating back to its founding in Motala, Sweden, in 1923 by Axel Holstensson. For decades, it was a prominent Nordic manufacturer of home electronics, including radios and televisions. However, the original Swedish company faced financial challenges and was eventually acquired by Nokia in the 1980s.
In the 2000s, the rights to the Luxor brand name for televisions and consumer electronics were acquired by the Turkish electronics giant Vestel. Since then, Luxor products have primarily been manufactured in Vestel City in Manisa, Turkey, which is one of the largest industrial manufacturing complexes in Europe. Today, Luxor operates as a value-driven brand within the Vestel portfolio, specifically targeting the Scandinavian market. In many Nordic regions, the distribution and product management are handled through local retail chains like NetOnNet.
