Ovaltine, originally known as Ovomaltine, is a classic brand of milk flavoring supplement made with malt extract, sugar, and whey. It was originally developed in Bern, Switzerland, at the turn of the 20th century by chemist Dr. Albert Wander. The product was designed to address nutritional deficiencies, utilizing the natural energy-giving properties of malt. Today, it is enjoyed globally as both a hot and cold beverage, often recognized for its orange packaging and distinct malted flavor profile.

The brand has a complex ownership history due to regional divestments. While the original Swiss company Wander AG was acquired by Sandoz (later Novartis), most international rights to the brand were sold to Associated British Foods (ABF) in 2002. ABF currently owns the brand globally, with the primary exception of the United States, where Nestlé holds the rights for production and distribution. Because the brand is a staple in many markets including the UK, Switzerland, Thailand, and the Philippines, manufacturing occurs in multiple facilities around the world to serve local demand.
