Cherry is a world-renowned manufacturer of computer input devices and the creator of the industry-standard Cherry MX mechanical keyboard switches. Founded in 1953 by Walter Cherry in the United States, the company's core operations eventually shifted to Germany, where it established a reputation for precision engineering and high-durability gaming and office peripherals.
Today, Cherry operates as a publicly traded company on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. While it was previously owned by ZF Friedrichshafen and later the investment firm GENUI, it is now an independent entity (Cherry SE) managing its global operations from its German headquarters. Manufacturing is strategically split between highly automated German facilities for high-end components and specialized manufacturing in China for various consumer mouse and keyboard models.
