The Selecta brand was founded in Switzerland in 1957 by Joseph Jeger. While originally established in Murten, the company has expanded globally to become a dominant force in beverage and snack solutions across Europe. The manufacturing of their dairy consumables, such as these coffee cream cups, typically takes place in multiple locations across Europe through partnerships with dairy processors specialized in UHT products to ensure high quality and long shelf life.

Currently, Selecta Group is owned by investment company KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.), which acquired a majority stake in 2015. This ownership has allowed the brand to modernise its offering with brands like Pelican Rouge and Starbucks in their vending machines.
