Primula Cheese Spread with Chives

The brand was originally established in Norway in 1924 by Olav Kavli, who invented the world's first long-life spreadable cheese. Since the 1930s, Primula has had a strong manufacturing presence in the UK, eventually settling its main production facility in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.

Today, Primula is owned by the Kavli Trust (Kavli Holding AS), a unique charitable foundation based in Norway. All profits from the sale of Primula products are donated to good causes, supporting research, culture, and humanitarian work globally. The UK operations are managed via Primula Limited, which continues to manufacture the spread using a combination of EU and Non-EU ingredients to ensure consistent quality and flavor.
