Hammerite is a globally recognized brand specializing in metal protection and decoration. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1962, the brand became famous for its unique 'hammered' finish and its ability to be applied directly onto rust without the need for intensive priming or undercoating.
Throughout its history, Hammerite has undergone several changes in ownership. It was initially developed by Allen Forster and later acquired by Finnigans. In the late 20th century, it was part of the ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) portfolio before being acquired by AkzoNobel in 2008. Today, AkzoNobel, a Dutch multinational, remains the ultimate owner and global distributor of the brand.
Manufacturing takes place in various locations worldwide to satisfy regional demand, with major production facilities situated in Europe. The brand continues to lead the DIY and professional metal care market with specialized formulations for gates, railings, and automotive parts.
