Method is a well-known brand and industry pioneer in eco-friendly household cleaning and personal care products. Founded in San Francisco, California, in 2000 by Eric Ryan and Adam Lowry, the brand's goal was to create cleaning supplies that were safe for the environment and aesthetically pleasing. Their fabric softener, specifically the Peony Blush variety, continues this tradition with plant-based ingredients and a signature fragrance.
In 2012, Method was acquired by the Belgian eco-cleaning company Ecover. Subsequently, in 2017, the combined group (known as Method + Ecover or the People Against Dirty company) was acquired by S. C. Johnson & Son, a major American multinational manufacturer of household cleaning supplies and consumer chemicals.
Today, Method products are manufactured in several key locations. While the brand maintains its 'Southside Soapbox' factory in Chicago to serve the North American market, many of the products sold in the UK and European markets are produced in Ecover’s eco-factory in Malle, Belgium. This allows the brand to minimize its carbon footprint while serving its global customer base under the leadership of S. C. Johnson.
