HP Sauce is an iconic British brown sauce that has been a staple in United Kingdom households for over a century. Originally invented by Frederick Gibson Garton, a grocer from Nottingham, the sauce was named 'HP' after the Houses of Parliament, which are still featured on the label today. The brand quickly became synonymous with British breakfast culture.

Despite its deep British heritage, production of HP Sauce was moved from the Aston Cross factory in Birmingham to Elst in the Netherlands in 2007. This move sparked significant media attention at the time, but the product remains the market leader in the brown sauce category within the UK.

Today, the brand is owned by the Kraft Heinz Company, which was formed through the merger of Kraft Foods and H.J. Heinz Holding Corporation. The brand continues to be marketed heavily in the UK and Commonwealth countries, maintaining its status as a cultural icon while being manufactured in continental Europe.
