Endura was founded in 1993 in Edinburgh, Scotland, by Jim McFarlane. The brand was established with the goal of creating high-performance, durable cycling gear that could withstand the challenging weather conditions of the Scottish Highlands. Since its inception, Endura has grown from a local niche brand into a globally recognized leader in technical apparel for road, mountain, and urban cycling.
While Endura maintains a significant production facility in Livingston, Scotland, for specialized custom kits and high-end technical items, the majority of its mass-market products are manufactured in multiple countries across Asia and Europe to meet global demand. This hybrid manufacturing approach allows the brand to combine artisanal-level quality control with large-scale distribution capabilities.
In 2018, Endura was acquired by Pentland Group, a major British global brand management company. This acquisition integrated Endura into a portfolio that includes other famous sports brands like Speedo and Berghaus. Today, Endura continues to be managed under the Pentland Group umbrella, benefiting from their extensive international logistics and retail networks while maintaining its core identity as a Scottish-born cycling innovator.
