While Marmot was founded in the United States and maintains its headquarters in Rohnert Park, California, its manufacturing is primarily outsourced to various countries including Vietnam and China. In 2004, Marmot was acquired by K2 Sports, which was later integrated into Jarden Corporation, and since 2016, the brand has been a part of Newell Brands, an American global consumer goods conglomerate.
