Dithmarscher Dunkel beer

Dithmarscher Dunkel is a traditional dark lager brewed by the Dithmarscher Privatbrauerei Karl Hintz, located in Marne, Germany. The brewery's history at this site dates back to 1775, though the modern company was officially established by Christian Hintz in 1884.

As of 2026, the brewery remains one of the few independent private breweries on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein. It continues to be owned and operated by the Hintz family, now in its fifth generation. The production is characterized by a strong regional identity, utilizing traditional brewing methods and local resources. In recent years, the company has modernized its operations, including the opening of a new bottling and logistics center in 2024 to support its growing distribution while maintaining its headquarters in the heart of Marne.
