Turbosound is a prestigious British professional audio brand with a history dating back to 1970. Originally founded in London by Tony Wright and John Sayer, the company became legendary for its innovative horn-loaded loudspeaker designs and received multiple Queen's Awards for export and innovation. Its systems have powered some of the world's most famous concert tours and festivals, including Glastonbury.
Over the decades, the brand's ownership has transitioned through several major industry players. After being independent for many years, it was acquired by Peavey Electronics in 1994, followed by the Italian Proel Group in 2007. In 2012, Turbosound was acquired by Music Tribe (formerly Music Group), the parent company led by Uli Behringer that also owns Midas, Behringer, and Klark Teknik. While the brand maintains its British heritage and engineering roots, most of its high-volume manufacturing was relocated to Music Tribe’s centralized production facilities in China to leverage shared component platforms and advanced manufacturing technologies.
