The brand was originally a family-owned venture, notably expanded by the Bettin family after 1979, becoming the largest manufacturer of decorative confectionery in Latin America.

In a strategic move to strengthen its position in the South American baking category, the German multinational Dr. Oetker acquired Mavalério in July 2019. This acquisition integrated the local expertise of Mavalério with the global reach and quality standards of the Oetker Group.
