The brand traces its origins back to 1945 in Switzerland, where scientists at the pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche discovered the regenerative properties of Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5). This discovery led to the creation of the Pantene brand, named after its key ingredient.

In 1985, the brand was acquired by the American multinational consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G). Under P&G's ownership, Pantene expanded globally, becoming one of the most recognized hair care brands in the world.
