It originated in 1958 with the founding of the Cooperative of Borja, which later merged with the cooperatives of Pozuelo and Tabuenca in 2001 to form the modern limited company, Bodegas Borsao S.A.

The wine is manufactured exclusively in the Borja municipality of Zaragoza, Spain, utilizing grapes from the 'Empire of Garnacha.' The company operates as a collaborative enterprise owned by hundreds of local winegrowers who serve as shareholders. This structure ensures that the production remains focused on traditional viticulture while utilizing modern winemaking facilities to export to over 50 countries worldwide.
