GORE Wear is a premier high-performance apparel brand specializing in cycling and running gear. The brand's history is deeply rooted in the scientific innovations of its parent company, W. L. Gore & Associates, which was founded in 1958 in Newark, Delaware, by Bill and Vieve Gore. The brand itself was born in 1984 with the introduction of the first breathable, waterproof GORE-TEX cycling jacket, initially operating under the names GORE Bike Wear and GORE Running Wear before merging into the unified GORE Wear identity in 2018.

While the brand's technological soul is American, its manufacturing footprint is global. Products are produced in various locations to maintain high standards of technical precision, with key factories located in Romania, Italy, Turkey, China, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The brand has served as an in-house laboratory to showcase the capabilities of GORE-TEX and WINDSTOPPER technologies.

In late 2025, W. L. Gore & Associates announced the difficult decision to wind down the GORE Wear apparel division by early 2026 due to the intense competition in the premium sportswear market. However, the parent company remains a global leader in materials science, and its iconic GORE-TEX fabric technology continues to be supplied to other major athletic and outdoor brands worldwide.
