Zyrtec (cetirizine hydrochloride) is a leading over-the-counter antihistamine brand with a complex history of ownership and global manufacturing. The active ingredient was originally developed by the Belgian company UCB (Union Chimique Belge). In the United States, it was first marketed through a partnership between Pfizer and UCB. Ownership transitioned to Johnson & Johnson following their 2006 acquisition of Pfizer's consumer healthcare division.
