San Remo is an iconic Australian pasta brand that has been a staple in kitchens for nearly a century. Established in 1936 by Luigi Crotti, an Italian immigrant who settled in Adelaide, South Australia, the brand was built on the tradition of Italian pasta-making combined with local Australian resources.
The product, specifically the 5kg bulk bag of Spaghetti No. 5, is primarily manufactured at San Remo’s advanced production facility and durum wheat mill in Adelaide. The company is unique in that it mills its own durum wheat, much of which is grown by contracted farmers in South Australia, ensuring control over the entire production process from grain to pack.
San Remo remains a privately owned, 100% Australian family business. It is currently managed by the third generation of the Crotti family. From its beginnings as a local supplier for the migrant community, San Remo has grown to become the leading pasta brand in Australia and a significant exporter, shipping products to over 35 countries worldwide, including Italy itself.
