Pepsodent is a historic oral care brand with a legacy dating back to its introduction in Chicago in 1915. Originally famous for its "Irium" (a marketing term for sodium lauryl sulfate) and early sponsorship of popular radio programs, the brand became a global household name.
Today, the ownership of Pepsodent is split geographically. Since 1944, it has been a core part of the Unilever portfolio for most of the world, including Europe, Asia, and Africa. However, in 2003, Unilever sold the rights to the brand in the United States and Canada to Church & Dwight. In the Nordic markets and elsewhere, the product is manufactured in various Unilever facilities across Europe and Asia, such as Indonesia or France, depending on the specific product line and regional distribution logistics.
