De Tuinen is a heritage brand from the Netherlands that has long been synonymous with natural health and wellness. Originally part of the Dutch retail giant Ahold since 1991, the brand was acquired in 2003 by the British health retailer Holland & Barrett (then part of NBTY). Although the physical storefronts across the Netherlands were rebranded to Holland & Barrett around 2015 to create a unified international identity, 'De Tuinen' remains a beloved house brand for many of the products sold within these stores, particularly in the categories of essential oils, natural cosmetics, and herbal teas.
Today, the brand is under the ultimate ownership of LetterOne, an international investment firm that acquired Holland & Barrett in 2017. While the brand's roots and a significant portion of its manufacturing remain in the Netherlands, its operations are now part of a global network. This transition has allowed De Tuinen products to benefit from broader distribution and scientific research while maintaining the 'natural' ethos that made them a staple in Dutch households for decades.
