Marabu is a renowned German brand that has been a leader in the production of high-quality inks and creative colors for over 160 years. Founded in 1859 by Albert Martz in Stuttgart, Germany, the company originally began as a retail store for artist paints and materials. Over the decades, it evolved from a local supplier into a global industrial powerhouse, specifically noted for its 'Made in Germany' quality seal. Today, Marabu operates two main divisions: Printing Inks (digital, screen, and pad printing) and Creative Colours (paints for hobby, art, and school).

Manufacturing remains deeply rooted in Germany, with major production facilities located in Tamm and Bietigheim-Bissingen. To support its global presence, the company also maintains production and laboratory sites in the United States, China, and Paraguay. This distributed manufacturing model allows the brand to serve more than 100 countries while maintaining strict quality control.

Marabu remains an independent family-owned enterprise. The ownership is held by the Simon and Thorban families, descendants of the original founder, ensuring the brand retains its traditional values and focus on innovation. The group continues to expand, recently acquiring ICON Inks to strengthen its footprint in the textile and Asian markets, while remaining headquartered in Tamm, Germany.
