FoodSaver vacuum sealer

FoodSaver is the leading brand in the home vacuum packaging industry, primarily known for its vacuum sealing machines, bags, and rolls. The brand was founded in 1987 after German inventor Hanns Kristen developed a system to remove air from food storage bags more effectively than existing consumer products. The product was originally marketed by Tilia Inc., a company based in San Francisco, California.

Over the decades, the brand underwent several ownership changes. In 2002, Tilia Inc. was acquired by Jarden Corporation, which significantly expanded the brand's global reach. In 2016, Jarden Corporation merged with Newell Rubbermaid to form Newell Brands. As of 2026, FoodSaver remains a core part of the Newell Brands portfolio, managed within their kitchen and home appliances division. While the brand was conceived in Germany and established in the United States, most manufacturing for the consumer-grade vacuum sealers and accessories currently takes place in China.
