Originally launched in Italy during the late 1970s and 1980s by the Italian company Perfetti SpA, it quickly became a market leader in the sugar-free gum segment. Today, the brand is part of the global portfolio of Perfetti Van Melle, a major Italian-Dutch multinational formed in 2001 following the merger of Italy's Perfetti and the Netherlands' Van Melle. While the group operates manufacturing facilities worldwide—having recently expanded further with the acquisition of Mondelēz's gum business—Vigorsol remains deeply rooted in its Italian heritage. Most production for the European market, particularly the core Vigorsol lines, continues to take place at the company's primary Italian facilities in Lainate, near Milan.
