Sottilette Le Originali Light

Sottilette is an iconic brand of processed cheese slices that has been a staple in Italian households since its introduction in 1961. Originally launched by the American company Kraft Foods, it represented the first individually wrapped processed cheese slices in Italy. Over the decades, the brand has become so synonymous with the product category that the name "sottilette" is often used generically in the Italian language to refer to any sliced processed cheese.

Despite its deep historical roots and marketing focus in Italy, Sottilette Le Originali are primarily manufactured at a specialized production facility in Namur, Belgium. The brand is currently owned by Mondelēz International, an American multinational food and beverage conglomerate. This ownership structure resulted from the 2012 corporate spin-off where Kraft Foods Inc. divided its business, with its international snack and cheese operations (including the Italian division) becoming part of the newly formed Mondelēz International. The 'Light' version featured in the image was introduced in 1992 as a reduced-fat alternative to the classic version.
