Severin is a historic German brand that evolved from a humble blacksmith shop founded by Anton Severin in 1892 in Sundern, Germany. By the mid-20th century, the company transitioned into the production of electrical household appliances, becoming a household name in Europe for items like coffee machines, toasters, and electric grills.
While the brand maintains its design, engineering, and quality control headquarters in Germany, the manufacturing landscape has shifted significantly over the decades. Since 1995, Severin has operated its own large-scale production facility in Shenzhen, China. Local production at the original Sundern plant was officially discontinued in 2020 to consolidate manufacturing operations in Asia, though Sundern remains the central logistics and administrative hub.
Today, the brand is owned by the Knauf family (specifically through Copper Oak Ventures), who completed a full acquisition of the company in 2018. Under this ownership, Severin continues to position itself as a premium yet affordable German brand, focusing on innovation and sustainability in the global small domestic appliance market.
