Canada Dry soft drink

Canada Dry is a legendary brand of carbonated beverages, most famous for its Ginger Ale. It was founded in 1904 by John J. McLaughlin, a Canadian pharmacist and chemist, in Toronto, Ontario. McLaughlin developed a 'pale' style of ginger ale that was less sweet than the traditional golden varieties of the time, leading to the name 'Dry' (similar to dry wine). The brand quickly gained prestige and was appointed to the Viceregal Household of the Governor General of Canada in 1907, which is when the iconic crown and shield logo replaced the original beaver and map design.

Throughout the 20th century, the brand's popularity soared, particularly in the United States during the Prohibition era, as its crisp flavor made it an ideal mixer for masking the harsh taste of bootleg spirits. Ownership changed several times over the decades, moving from the McLaughlin family to various conglomerates including Cadbury Schweppes.

Today, the brand is owned by the American beverage giant Keurig Dr Pepper. While it retains its Canadian heritage and name, it is a global product manufactured in numerous countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and various nations across Europe and the Middle East to serve local markets efficiently.
