Planta Fin is a prominent brand of margarine and plant-based spreads, particularly well-known in France where it is one of the market leaders. The brand's heritage is closely linked to the invention of margarine itself, tracing back to the 19th-century patent acquired by the Jurgens family in the Netherlands, which eventually became part of the Unilever portfolio.
In 2018, Unilever spun off its spreads division into a standalone company named Upfield, backed by the investment firm KKR. Recently, in late 2024, Upfield rebranded as the Flora Food Group to align more closely with its flagship global brand. Today, Planta Fin is part of this global group, which focuses on sustainable, plant-based nutrition. While it is a staple in French households, production occurs across various European manufacturing sites owned by the group, including facilities in Germany and Poland, depending on the specific product line.
