Superga sneaker

Superga is a historic Italian brand established in 1911 in Turin by Walter Martiny. Originally part of the Walter Martiny Rubber Industry, the brand gained fame for introducing vulcanized rubber-soled footwear to Italy, most notably the iconic '2750' model created in 1925. This model became synonymous with Italian leisure and sports, eventually earning the nickname 'The People's Shoe of Italy.'

While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in Turin, contemporary manufacturing is conducted in multiple countries. Historically, production was centered in Italy, but today much of the mass-market footwear is produced in manufacturing hubs across Asia (such as Vietnam and China) to serve its global distribution network. Some premium or special anniversary editions, like the '1925 - Made in Italy' collection, are still crafted in Italy to celebrate the brand's artisanal origins.

Since 2007, Superga has been owned by BasicNet S.p.A., an Italian publicly listed company that also manages other renowned lifestyle brands like Kappa and K-Way. BasicNet oversees the brand's global strategy, while regional distribution is often handled through license agreements, such as with 'The Foundation' in North America.
