Primor is one of the most iconic and traditional margarine brands in Brazil, particularly dominant in the North and Northeast regions where it frequently holds 'Top of Mind' status. The brand was originally launched in 1958 as a soy oil by the company Samrig (S.A. Moinhos Rio Grandenses) in Rio Grande do Sul. The margarine version followed shortly after in 1960, becoming the brand's flagship product.
For many decades, Primor was owned by the Dutch multinational Bunge. However, in late 2019, as part of a strategic shift to simplify its operations, Bunge sold its Brazilian margarine assets to JBS, one of the world's largest food companies. Today, Primor is managed under the Seara division of JBS. Manufacturing occurs in several specialized facilities across Brazil, including plants in states like São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Pernambuco, ensuring its widespread availability and freshness for the Brazilian market.
