Tesco Tomato Purée is a widely sold own-brand product of the British multinational retailer Tesco PLC. Historically, the product has been marketed as 'Italian Tomato Purée,' signifying its manufacturing and primary sourcing from Italy, specifically through major Italian processors like the Petti Group. However, the supply chain for this product has recently come under significant scrutiny.

In late 2024 and early 2025, investigative reports, including those from the BBC, alleged that some tomato concentrates used in UK supermarket own-brand purées—including Tesco's—contained tomatoes sourced from the Xinjiang region of China. While Tesco maintains strict traceability standards and has historically suspended suppliers involved in such controversies, the manufacturing process often involves Italian facilities processing both domestic and imported raw tomato paste. As a result, while the final product is packaged and often processed in Italy, the raw materials may originate from multiple countries depending on seasonal supply and global market dynamics.
