Morrisons Ultimate Bio Laundry Capsules are a high-performance private-label detergent developed for the British supermarket chain Morrisons. While Morrisons is well-known for its vertical integration and manufacturing many of its fresh food products in-house, its non-food items, such as laundry detergents, are typically sourced through specialized third-party manufacturers. In the case of their laundry capsules, production is primarily centered in Belgium, which is a major European hub for the manufacturing of water-soluble cleaning pods.
The brand's history dates back to 1899, founded by William Morrison in Bradford, England. For over a century, it remained a publicly traded British company. However, in October 2021, Morrisons underwent a significant shift in ownership when it was acquired by the American private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R). Despite this change to American parentage, the company maintains its operational headquarters in West Yorkshire and continues to trade as one of the UK’s primary grocery retailers, with its ultimate ownership residing within the CD&R investment portfolio.
