Dan Cake is a renowned Danish bakery brand with a history dating back to 1931, when it was founded by Jens Eskildsen in Simmelkjær, Denmark. What started as a small local bakery evolved into a major industrial operation after moving to Give in 1959. Today, the brand is widely recognized for its iconic products like the lemon half-moon cake and various swiss rolls, but it has also significantly expanded its portfolio to include toasted breads and other bakery goods.

While the brand remains deeply rooted in its Danish heritage, its manufacturing footprint is international. Production facilities are located in Denmark, Poland, and Bangladesh to serve different regional markets. Ownership of the brand has seen several transitions; originally family-owned, it was sold to British interests in the 1980s before being bought back in 2004 by an investor group led by the Danish company GIVESCO A/S. As of 2026, Dan Cake remains under the umbrella of GIVESCO A/S, which is owned by the Eskildsen family, maintaining its status as a locally rooted yet globally active food producer.
