Founded in 1924 in Berlin by Eugen Beyer, Beyerdynamic has established itself as a legendary name in the professional and consumer audio industry. For over a century, the brand remained a family-owned German enterprise, renowned for pioneering the first dynamic headphones (the DT 48) and providing high-end microphones used by iconic figures like The Beatles and Queen Elizabeth II.
In June 2025, Beyerdynamic underwent a significant structural change when it was acquired by the Chinese electronics firm Cosonic Intelligent Technologies for approximately €122 million ($140 million USD). Despite this change in ultimate ownership, the brand maintains its headquarters in Heilbronn, Germany. A core part of the brand's identity remains tied to its 'Made in Germany' heritage; as of 2026, roughly 85% of its core products, including the high-end T1, T5, and Pro Studio series, continue to be handmade at its German production facility. However, certain consumer-grade items and wireless gaming headsets are manufactured in other regions, primarily China.
