Brand History and Evolution

Securitas Direct was originally founded in 1988 in Sweden as a specialized residential and small business division within the renowned Securitas AB group. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the brand expanded rapidly across Europe and Latin America. In 2006, Securitas Direct was spun off as an independent company and listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. By 2011, the company was acquired by private equity firms Hellman & Friedman and Bain Capital, marking a significant shift in its growth strategy.

Transition to Verisure

As of 2026, the brand has completed a global transition to the name Verisure in all its operational markets, including Spain and Portugal, which were the final regions to hold the original Securitas Direct name. This rebranding unifies the group's identity under a single global entity while maintaining the technology and professional monitoring services that established its leadership in the smart alarm sector.

Manufacturing and Operations

While Verisure designs its proprietary technology and software (such as the PreSense™ platform) in specialized R&D centers, the hardware components of their security systems—including motion sensors, control panels, and sirens—are manufactured in multiple countries through global supply chains. The monitoring services, however, are local, with massive Alarm Receiving Centers (ARCs) located in the specific countries where the service is provided to ensure rapid response by local law enforcement and emergency services.
