Coway is a global leader in home appliance rental and manufacturing, widely recognized for its high-performance water purifiers, air cleaners, and bidet systems. Founded in South Korea in 1989 by the Woongjin Group, the brand pioneered the rental and service-based subscription model long before it became a global industry standard. The company operates a sophisticated dual-track manufacturing strategy to balance premium quality with global cost-efficiency.

While South Korea remains the foundational core for the brand's research and development and the production of its flagship, high-end models, Coway also maintains significant manufacturing hubs in China, specifically in Guangzhou. The Korean facilities, such as the Yugu Factory (the world's largest filter production site) and the Incheon Factory, focus on advanced technology and specialty items like bidets and humidifiers. Conversely, many of its air purifiers and mass-market models are assembled in China to leverage efficient supply chains. Currently, Coway is under the ultimate ownership of the South Korean gaming giant Netmarble Corp., which acquired the company in 2019 to integrate advanced IT and digital capabilities into the home appliance sector.
