Odkolek Chleb Žitamoc

Odkolek is one of the oldest and most traditional bakery brands in the Czech Republic, with its history dating back to 1850. The brand was founded by František Odkolek, who established a legendary milling and baking business in Prague. Over the decades, the brand became synonymous with high-quality artisanal bread and pastries, deeply rooted in Czech culinary heritage.

In the modern era, the brand underwent several ownership changes. It was eventually integrated into the United Bakeries group, which was formed by the merger of Delta Pekárny and Odkolek. In June 2019, the Czech Republic's Office for the Protection of Competition approved the acquisition of United Bakeries by the Penam group. Both Penam and United Bakeries are subsidiaries of the Agrofert conglomerate.

Today, Odkolek products, including the 'Žitamoc' rye bread, are produced in various regional bakeries across the Czech Republic, such as those in Prague, Pardubice, and Plzeň. The brand remains a dominant player in the Czech market, balancing its nineteenth-century baking traditions with modern industrial production standards under the umbrella of Agrofert.
