Köllnflocken is one of Germany's most iconic and historic food brands, primarily known for its high-quality oat products. The brand's history dates back to 1795 when Hans Hinrich Kölln purchased a small grain mill in Elmshorn, Germany. The official company, Peter Kölln GmbH & Co. KGaA, was formally established in 1820. The name 'Köllnflocken' became a household staple following the 1920 launch of packaged oat flakes and the 1937 registration of the famous 'Blütenzarte Köllnflocken' trademark in its signature blue packaging.

Manufacturing remains deeply rooted in its hometown of Elmshorn, Schleswig-Holstein, where the company's distinctive oat silos have become a local landmark. Today, the company is still entirely family-owned, representing a rare example of a medium-sized German enterprise that has maintained independence for over seven generations. Since 2024, it has been led by Friederike Driftmann-Egelhof, a descendant of the founding family. Beyond oat flakes, the company has expanded its portfolio to include mueslis, cereals, and edible oils, having acquired other heritage brands like Mazola and Palmin.
