Millet outdoor gear

Millet is a prestigious French brand specializing in technical outdoor equipment and apparel. Founded in 1921 near Lyon by Marc and Hermance Millet, the company initially focused on shopping and grocery bags. The brand gained international fame in 1950 when it provided the backpacks for the first successful ascent of an 8,000-meter peak, Annapurna, by Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal.

Over the decades, Millet expanded into high-performance technical clothing and footwear, becoming a benchmark for mountaineers and mountain guides, particularly through its long-standing partnership with the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix. After being owned by the Lafuma Group and later the Swiss group Calida, the brand returned to the control of the founding family in 2021 when Jean-Pierre Millet and Inspiring Sport Capital (ISC) acquired the company.

While the brand maintains its headquarters and design center in Annecy, France, its manufacturing is distributed internationally. Production occurs in several locations including Tunisia, where they have their own factory, as well as several other specialized manufacturing sites across Asia and Europe to cater to global demand.
