Swan kitchen appliances

Swan is a storied British brand with a history dating back to the late 19th century when it was founded by Bulpitt & Sons Ltd in Birmingham, England. Originally famous for brass and aluminium products, the brand gained significant fame in the 1920s and 30s for pioneering the first electric heating element that could be immersed in water, effectively inventing the modern electric kettle. For much of the 20th century, Swan was a household name in the United Kingdom, recognized for its innovation and quality in domestic appliances.

Over the decades, the brand's ownership has transitioned through several major corporations. After being owned by BSR (Housewares) Ltd in the 1970s and later by the French manufacturer Moulinex in 1988, Swan was acquired by the British retail group Littlewoods in 2000. In 2017, the brand returned to more independent management under Swan Products Ltd. Most recently, in July 2023, Swan was acquired by the Staffordshire-based Sutton Venture Group (SVG). It now operates under SVG's RKW trading division, which manages a portfolio of British heritage brands.

While the brand's design and engineering heritage remain rooted in the United Kingdom, manufacturing is largely outsourced to global supply partners. Swan's current owner, RKW, maintains a significant logistics and distribution infrastructure, utilizing manufacturing facilities primarily across Asia (China and India) to produce its contemporary ranges of kettles, toasters, and other kitchenwares.
