Dairygold is a prominent Irish brand of dairy spreads, primarily known for its 'Original' churned spread. The brand was established in 1990 following the merger of two major Irish dairy cooperatives, Mitchelstown and Ballyclough, which themselves had roots dating back to the early 20th century.
The manufacturing of Dairygold spreads takes place exclusively in Ireland, specifically in Listowel, County Kerry. The milk used in the production is sourced from thousands of local farmer shareholders across the Golden Valley region of Munster, highlighting the brand's deep connection to the Irish agricultural landscape.
While the brand originated within the Dairygold Co-operative Society, its consumer foods division—including the Dairygold spread brand—was acquired by the Kerry Group in 2006. Today, the brand is owned and managed by Kerry Dairy Ireland, a division of the Kerry Group, though it maintains its heritage and production ties to its original Munster heartland.
