Founded in 1984 by Juan Perán Ramos in Elche, a city in the Alicante province known for its deep-rooted shoemaking history, the brand was established to create original and high-quality leather products. It remains a family-owned enterprise, currently managed by the founder's children, Juan Manuel and Rosa Ana Perán.

The brand's manufacturing philosophy centers on quality and sustainability. While the majority of production occurs in Spain—specifically at its extensive facilities in Segovia and Elche—the company has expanded parts of its manufacturing to China to scale international distribution. Regardless of the location, Pikolinos maintains strict European quality standards, utilizing its own tanneries to produce the signature vegetable-tanned, water-finished leathers that give the shoes their characteristic soft feel and rich colors.

Established in 2007, the foundation channels a significant portion of the company’s profits into social, cultural, and development projects worldwide.
