Stiga is a brand with a dual identity, operating primarily in two distinct sectors: sports equipment and garden machinery. Originally founded in Sweden in 1934 by Stig Hjelmquist, the brand initially gained global fame for its table tennis products. Over time, it expanded into lawnmowers and snow racers.

Today, the brand's name is shared by two separate entities. STIGA Sports AB, based in Eskilstuna, Sweden, handles the high-performance sports equipment, including their world-renowned table tennis blades which are still handcrafted in Sweden, while their rubbers are sourced from Japan and Germany, and general accessories are produced in China.

On the other hand, the garden equipment division is managed by the STIGA Group (formerly Global Garden Products), which is headquartered in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy. This arm of the brand focuses on mowers, robotic garden tools, and battery-powered machinery. Their manufacturing is a global operation with major production plants located in Italy, Slovakia, and China. While the brand maintains its 'Swedish engineering' marketing identity, the ultimate ownership of the gardening branch has shifted to Italian-based management and international investment structures.
