Harris is an iconic British brand with a heritage dating back to 1928, when it was founded by Leslie George Harris in Birmingham. Originally known as The Midland Trading Company, the business moved to its well-known base in Stoke Prior, Worcestershire, in the 1930s. Over decades, Harris became a staple in the UK DIY market, famously receiving a Royal Warrant in 1961 for supplying decorating tools to the Royal Sandringham Estate.

In 2016, the family-owned L.G. Harris & Co. Ltd was acquired by the Norwegian consumer goods giant Orkla Group in a deal valued at approximately £55 million. Today, the brand is managed under the Orkla House Care subsidiary. While the brand remains deeply rooted in its British identity and maintains headquarters in the UK, its production has evolved into a global operation. Today, manufacturing is primarily centered in China—where the company established a wholly foreign-owned enterprise—though some specialized operations or historic ties to UK facilities may still exist for specific ranges.
