Aurora Ham

Aurora ham is produced by Cooperativa Central Aurora Alimentos, one of Brazil's largest and most significant food cooperatives. The brand originated in 1969 in the city of Chapecó, Santa Catarina, when a group of 18 farmers united to form a cooperative that would allow them to industrialize their own production.

Today, Aurora is a global player in the meat processing industry, specifically known for its pork and poultry portfolio. Unlike many large corporations owned by private equity or single shareholders, Aurora remains a 'cooperative of cooperatives.' Its ownership structure is composed of various affiliated agricultural cooperatives representing thousands of rural producer families. The production process is vertically integrated, meaning the cooperative manages everything from animal feed and livestock raising to slaughtering and final packaging within its industrial complexes in Brazil.
