Carmencita is a household name in Spain, celebrated for a history that spans over a century. The brand was founded in 1923 by Jesús Navarro Jover in Novelda, Alicante. What began as a small family operation packaging saffron in paper sachets has evolved into Spain's leading spice and seasoning brand. The company remains a family-owned enterprise, with the third generation of the Navarro family currently at the helm.
This specific product, the Mediterranean Mix Grinder, features a blend of high-quality ingredients including Mediterranean sea salt, rosemary, pink peppercorns, and other aromatic herbs designed to evoke the flavors of the Spanish coast. Production is concentrated in their state-of-the-art facilities in Novelda, which recently underwent a massive expansion to become the largest and most modern spice factory in Europe.
Ownership of the brand remains with Jesús Navarro, S.A., which has successfully navigated the transition from a local producer to a global exporter serving over 60 countries. While the company once shared 50% ownership with the food conglomerate Ebro during a period of expansion in the 1980s, the Navarro family later regained full control, maintaining their commitment to the brand's original heritage and family-run values.
